LOW NUMBER PLATES

You can support local farmers by making a donation for a special low number food plate. Proceeds from your donation go to New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, Massachusetts Federation of Farmers Markets, and the Beginning Farmer Network of Massachusetts.

If you would like a low-number license plate, we have a selection of low numbers available. Your donation for these special numbers helps to support:

  • Business Course Training for New Farmers
  • Incubator Farm Experiential Education
  • Access to Marketing & Distribution Networks
  • Farmers Market Coordination and Management
  • Knowledge-Sharing Amongst Farmer Educators
  • Subsidized Food Shares for Elderly and Low-Income Youth & Families

The numbers 1, 2, 4, 13, 31, 62, 79 and 88 are no longer available!  

January, 2024

#1-10                 $10,000 Requested Donation

#11-20               $2,500 Requested Donation

#21-#99            $1,250 Requested Donation

The above requested donation is to reserve a low number. Additional “regular” registration fees and 1-time special plate change fee will apply at the RMV, when switching over.

Registration for low number specialty plates require a trip to your local RMV office. For a full list of RMV locations across the state, go to the RMV Office Locator.

HOW IT WORKS WHEN YOU ORDER A LOW-NUMBER

  1. Choose a number and fill in the form below. Send in payment via hard copy check.
  2. New Entry will confirm that your number is available as of your payment and send your request to the RMV.
  3. RMV notifies you when your low number plate is ready for in-person pick-up and registration.
  4. You head to your local RMV to register for and pick up your plate. (Registration fees apply). RMV Office Locator

WHAT TO BRING TO THE RMV

To transfer your current vehicle plate, bring:

  • Your old plates
  • RMV-3 form stamped by your insurance company, if the vehicle is currently registered
  • Current registration
  • Driver’s License

To register a new vehicle, bring:

  • RMV-1 form stamped by your insurance company.
  • Title, if it’s used
  • Certificate of origin, if it’s new
  • Bill of Sale, if it’s new
  • Driver’s License
